Ty Burrell's daughters, Frances Burrell and Greta Burrell, and wife, Holly Burrell, came up during a 2016 interview. The "Finding Dory" voice-over star confessed that meeting his wife and welcoming their daughters is one of the best unplanned things that ever happened to him.

The actor, however, knew his statement was a bit weird since his children were adopted. Ty explained that the children's adoption wasn't planned, but adoptions could be as irrational as having a regular birth. He also revealed how their adoptions happened.

The father of two said he and Holly were flying to New York from Los Angeles, and when they boarded the flight, they had no intention of ever having children. However, by the time they arrived in New York, the couple was in tears as they celebrated the idea of being first-time parents, which made it unplanned, with Ty adding:

"And then, when we did it again, it was similarly irrational."

In 2014, the actor confessed that before he and his wife welcomed their daughters, he and his wife took spending time together for granted. They've since learned that quality time together needs focus so they can go out on dates, but he didn't mind that much.

However, since their children joined their family of two, his favorite part of the morning was when either Frances or Greta climbed into their bed. The child would then hilariously pry Ty's eyelids open despite him not being ready to wake up yet!

What We Know about Ty Burrell's Children: Frances Burrell, His First Adopted Daughter

Ty spent around a year playing the role of a doting father of three, Phil Dunphy, on "Modern Family," but he didn't have real-life experience at the time. However, the actor got a chance to really know what he was talking about in 2010 when the then-42-year-old star and Holly adopted Frances on January 30.

When Frances was eight months old, her father was asked if he was a better husband and father than his "Modern Family" character since adopting her. Ty confessed that he is "more neurotic" than Dunphy but messed things up as much as the character!

The star shared that Holly Burrell knew how much alike he and Dunphy were and had a good laugh at his expense. France's father described his parenting style then as being like a pit crew member with him stepping in to feed and wash his baby girl. Ty's role became more intense when little Greta joined the trio.

More about Ty Burrell's Kids - Greta Burrell, His Second Daughter

In 2010, Ty confessed that marriage included lots of problem-solving. Still, when the collective goal between the pair was caring for another human being, that was an inspirational rallying point. What the actor meant was that having Frances brought him and Holly closer.

Greta joined the Burrells in 2012 when Ty was 44. By September 2017, Frances was seven, while her younger sister, Greta, was five. During an interview, the actor revealed that his proudest moment of being a father was when he and his family took time each night to cook together.

Holly's husband shared how little Greta participated the most. He noted how the process took some effort but felt satisfying when they could sit together and discuss their day over a meal they'd made.

The "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" voice-over star once revealed that he's "overly loving" as a father. Greta and Frances' father admits to liking giving out lots of hugs. However, his biggest weakness was allowing his girls to have tantrums.

Ty said tantrums weren't allowed when he was a child, and now he felt he needed to enable Frances and Greta to get them out of their systems. However, as someone who is part German, he sometimes hilariously insisted they shouldn't shout!

The star figured there was probably a middle ground to it, but he hadn't found it. What he loved doing with his children was going fly-fishing in Utah. Sadly, France and Greta weren't sold on the hobby and flipped out!
