General Information
On this page, we explain how to easily play Preservation Evoker in World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.7, usingthe simplest rotation, talent tree, stat priority, gear setup, etc., without sacrificing performance.
1.
Foreword
This page is intended for players who are new to the game or class,have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a morestraightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmedby the numerous subtleties and active abilities that need to be taken intoconsideration for optimal play.
2.
The Basics of Preservation Evokers
Preservation Evoker has many short cooldown spells, such as Dream Breathand Spiritbloom to provide significant healing every 30 seconds.In general, you will want to be casting these two abilities as much as possibleand allowing them to carry difficult healing moments. Outside of this, you candeal damage through Living Flame, Fire Breath and Disintegrate.
3.
Talent Choice for Preservation Evokers
The talent choices selected in the build above aim to maximize both healingand damage output without taking any talents that are a bit more difficult touse and get value out of. Dream Flight is an extremely strong cooldown,and while it may be weaker than Stasis in mythic+, it is much easier touse and you will have an easier time playing with it. It also gives you the flexibilityto cast both Echo and Emerald Blossom. If you prefer one or theother, you could opt instead to remove the talent points and go down the middle ofthe tree through Life-Giver's Flame and Lifeforce Mender.
4.
Stat Choice for Preservation Evokers
Currently, you will want to prioritize secondary stats for the talent choicesgiven above as follows:
4.1.
For Raid Healing:
- Intellect;
- Mastery;
- Critical Strike.
- Haste;
- Versatility.
4.2.
For Dungeons:
- Intellect;
- Mastery;
- Critical Strike.
- Haste;
- Versatility.

Basic Playstyle for Preservation Evokers
In our talent build, we selected the talents that buff Echo andallow us to heal any form of content effectively. The general goal will beto get Echo on as many players as possible, and consuming theseechoes with Reversion. This provides us with strong passive healingand amplifies our other healing through the Grace Period talent.
5.1.
5-Man Healing
- Cast Dream Breath at max rank when dealing with heavy damage.
- Cast Spiritbloom at max rank when dealing with heavy damage.
- Keep Reversion active on your party members.
- Use Echo for minor spot healing and to keep those targets healthythroughby using the Echo buff on another spell like Verdant Embrace, Reversion,or Dream Breath.
- Use Verdant Embrace for quick burst single-target healing. Try touse as much as possible and on targets in the most need of large healing.
- Spam Living Flame only if the situation is desperate.
5.2.
Group or Raid Healing
- Use Verdant Embrace before casting Dream Breath or Living Flameto get the bonus healing increase from Call of Ysera.
- Cast Dream Breath at Rank 1. Empower and cast it as frequently as youcan.
- Cast Echo as much as possible.
- Cast Temporal Anomaly whenever you need to get a lot of outechoes out at once.
- Consume Echo with Reversion.
- Use Spiritbloom when multiple people need large bursthealing.
When casting Dream Breath, you would naturally assume that a higherempower means more healing, but this is not the case. This ability always doesthe same amount of total healing, regardless of empower level. What changesdepending onthe empower level is how much of that healing is upfront vs. how much comes inthe form ofa HoT. Higher upfront healing can result in more overhealing, meaning that youwill benefit more from the high-duration HoT provided by Rank 1. Rank 2 is anicebalance between upfront healing and the HoT effect that could be goodsituationally.

Cooldown Usage for Preservation Evokers
As a Preservation Evoker, you have several healing cooldowns. Youshoulduse them as we explain below:
- Dream Flight is extremely powerful. This ability will cause you tofly into the air and heal every one of your allies in a line in front of you.This heals for a very high amount, but you need to line the ability up to hiteveryone. While it can be difficult to position, the more allies you canhit, the more powerful it will be.
- Rewind is the most reactive healing button thatPreservation Evokerhas. This ability causes your allies to heal for 50% of the damage they havetaken in the last 5 seconds. You can use this ability as soon as your partygets hit by a hard mechanic or something goes wrong in the dungeon that youwere not prepared for. Using this ability as much as possible for difficultmoments will greatly reduce the overall amount of healing that you need to doduring a dungeon.
- Tip the Scales will allow you to cast either Spiritbloom or Dream Breath instantly and at max rank. This can be used similarly torewind.When you do not expect damage or a mistake happens, using this to instantlycast one of your extremely powerful channel abilities can help you recover fromvery tough situations.
- Zephyr will allow you to reduce the damage taken from AoE effectsby 20% for your entire party. While not every mechanic may fall into thisdamage reduction, using it for hard-hitting AoE moments will make toughsituations much more manageable. Even if you are not sure what will do AoEdamage, press the ability and keep it on cooldown to ensure that you arereducing your group's damage intake.
- Preservation Evoker is fairly squishy, and while you do not havegreatdefensive options for this, never forget that Time Dilation can be usedon yourself to help reduce your damage taken and keep you alive in momentsthat would otherwise kill you. While you should not solely use this abilityon yourself, as it is equally useful in keeping your party and tank alive, it isan option to consider when times are tough and you find yourself out ofdefensive cooldowns.
