California workplace safety board approves heat protections for indoor workers, excluding prisons
California’s workplace regulators passed rules that would protect indoor workers from extreme heat. The regulations would apply to workplaces such as warehouses, schools and kitchens. They would require cooling devices, access to water and cool break areas at certain temperature thresholds as well as monitoring for signs of heat illness. The Division of Occupational Safety and Health approved indoor heat regulations in March, but Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration blocked them over concerns about what the rule might cost to implement in prisons and other state entities. The revised rules would not apply to correctional facilities.
Rapper Travis Scott arrested after Miami Beach police say he drunkenly yelled at people on a yacht
Miami Beach police say rapper Travis Scott was arrested on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and public intoxication. Police say Scott was drunkenly yelling at people on a yacht at the city marina and disobeyed their order to leave early Thursday. The 33-year-old Scott, who is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, posted his $650 bond and was released from jail before noon. His attorney says the arrest stemmed from a misunderstanding. Ten people were fatally crushed at a 2021 Scott concert at Houston’s Astroworld amusem*nt park when the crowd surged. The final lawsuit in those cases was settled last month. After a police investigation, a grand jury declined to indict Scott.

This is something people can feel good about and rally around.”
